Description & Storyline

An end of the course presentation by my drama students and the first fully-authored play directed and produced by H.S. Fernandez.

This is a tale about the death and rebirth of our inner child.
It tells the story of a humble flower girl that is caught in a modern, dystopian world, where the
beauty of natural things has been replaced by technology and the monotony of work. She
wants nothing else than to make money to help her beloved mother, who is very ill.
It is about the life of this girl, and how her inner child slowly disappears through the hardships
and grey monotony of modern life in the gray, modern and oppressive city. There are
glimpses of her life through childhood, school, her job at the circus, her university experience
and her first job as a politician's secretary.
In an ironic twist, and as a result of voicing her opinions at work, she loses her job and so
much more. Numb, she becomes focused on getting yet another job, as quickly as possible.
Her mobile phone becomes her only connection to the outside world. Endless days of
searching. Gray days of fruitlessness. The flowers she so loved as a child, now not much else
than dry remains in a cold vase.
In a dream she meets her inner child, but yet she continues to be focused on finding a job. This
obsession will eventually lead her into becoming another half-dead.
But she will be rescued by the inner child.
