Storyline
Introducing JOY - The Musical, a recent collaborative project staged by drama students to mark the 50th anniversary of Bob Fosse's "Cabaret." Directed by H.S. Fernandez, choreographed by Isabella Nyman, and with vocal coaching by Tiina Sinnemäki, this musical performance is a testament to the talent and hard work of the students involved.
This was a groundbreaking performance that aimed to provide drama students with hands-on experience in choreography and musical theater. The story centers around a group of mental patients at an asylum who find joy and solace in music and dance during their free time, offering a unique and thought-provoking take on the power of art in the face of adversity.
The drama students were taught six unique choreographies inspired by Bob Fosse's most famous numbers. These performances were staged in front of a sold-out audience for a single-evening show, highlighting the hard work and dedication of the students involved in this exciting project.
